Upon receiving this book, I thought it was tiny and not worth the money at all. After going through it page by page, I found it to have tons of extremely useful information. It wouldn't exactly fit in one's pocket (it measures about 6" x 5" x 1") but it would easily fit in a bag or purse to be carried around daily. It has a cover like a regular book but it is still spiral bound (you can't tell it is spiral bound when the book is closed). I think the cover is nice and I especially like the animal print on the side of the cover. The pages feel really smooth and the color-coded tabs keep the guide organized. I took one star off simply because of the price. Yes, it has a ton of information but I think $70 is way too steep for what you get. You could buy the newest edition of McCurnin's for just a little bit more money and you would get an entire textbook's worth of information. So I really don't understand why this little guide is so expensive. I love it too much to return it though and since most of the cost was covered by a gift card, I don't feel too bad about getting it. It's a great little guide to reference daily and I highly recommend it!
This reference guide does actually fit in a standard-sized scrub pocket, although it's way too awkward to realistically carry around in there (in my opinion).The information is solid and the sections are nicely presented/organized. However, the 'tabs' along the edge are far too flimsy to actually help you navigate said sections. The tabs are of a very, very thin material, and they readily curl over, preventing you from being able to read the text on them.Furthermore, my guide arrived crunched in between two much-bigger textbooks, so half the pages were bent. Half of the tabs were already creased over from the start.
Product was listed as used-acceptable.The cover is a little worn but nothing that would make it unusable. I was concerned on buying a used book for the sole fact that people write in them. This book has no writing in it!I’m working on making my own little “lab book†to help me with the boards exam as well as out in practice and this book has it all! A must for any technician student!
I just received "The Veterinary Technician's Pocket Partner", and it's a great little tome! The chapters are well demarcated with color coded tabs, the chapters very succinctly written with only pertinent, practical information relevant to the subject of that chapter.As a 2nd year veterinary technician student, this book will be invaluable for quick reinforcement of concepts, and will be a necessary resource while I prepare for the VTNE & FVTE.The only reason I did not give this publication 5 stars is that the spiral binding & flimsy cover are ackward. The pages stick together, and tear easily when pulled apart The pages are advertised as being "wash & wipe", but they look like a minor spill of saline would ruin them.I look forward to reading this book in it's entirety. For now, I will use it as a spot-reference, and look forward to showing my professors this little gem.
I've been looking for a good Technician reference since I started in the field back in 2008, and this is a great one for those that do Dogs/Cats/Pocket Pets. Doesn't have much information on your Exotics if your in that though (just an fyi). Loved that you could "test ride" it with the kindle so I could look through it beforehand to make sure it was what I wanted. Definately worth the money, though I wish it had a quick reference feature were I could click on a chapter and be brought to it instead of having to scan through the entire text (I am new to the kindle though, so maybe it has it and I just can't figure it out)
